European Geoparks Week 2022
European Geoparks Week 2022 at the Slovak Academy of Sciences: Exhibition of geoparks and geotourism in Slovakia
On the occasion of the environmental and educational event, the European Geoparks Week, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Slovak Environment Agency, the Interdepartmental Commission of the Network of Geoparks of the Slovak Republic and the Malé Karpaty Geopark are preparing a thematic exhibition called Geoparks and Geotourism in Slovakia at the premises of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava – Patrónka in front of the Assembly Hall of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
The aim of the exhibition is to increase the environmental awareness of the general public and professionals about the territorial, natural, archaeological and cultural and historical phenomena of the geoparks of Slovakia, included in the network of geoparks of Slovakia. The exhibition aims to present geoparks as a living, varied and changing natural phenomenon with an understanding of learning about nature through a comprehensible explanation of natural phenomena. The exhibition also illustrates the long-standing professional cooperation between SAS, SEA and IcNG SR, which have a leading position in supporting the construction and development of these, not only geologically significant areas. The exhibition will be freely accessible to the public from 31 May 2022 to 10 June 2022.
There are currently four geoparks in Slovakia included in the network of geoparks of the Slovak Republic: Novohrad – Nógrád UNESCO Geopark, Banská Štiavnica Geopark, Banská Bystrica Geopark, Malé Karpaty Geopark.
